As I type these words the American Economy, and thus the World's, is anxiously hanging in the balance as we all await a decision from Congress on the Bailout.
And let's just write that Large.
Because, as you already may know, the Federal Government of the United States of America is at this very moment weighing whether or not to spend $700 Billion to save the House of Cards that is now Wall Street and its domino Financial Institutions of lending and spending.
And I do mean Institutions.
To even begin to go into the rampant greed that got us all here in the first place will take more time then I have today but suffice to say that the bread has landed butter side down and the only safe bet is that we'll end up swallowing the consequences while the avaricious CEO's, CFO's and all-around assholes of Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac, Lehman Bros, AIG, Goldman Sachs, Shit....the list is too long, land softly and safely on parachutes most Golden welcomed by your Congressman's open arms.
But I don't mean to rant because now is not the time. It may be time for Molotov cocktails and fighting in the streets but ranting? No.
I do, however, want every loyal Citizen to take a long, hard and serious look at this number.
I mean just stare at it for a minute or two. Drink it in.
Let's all give it the respect it deserves for at least a moment.
$700,000,000,000
And please remember and rest absolutely assured that no matter how drastically you, and especially I, may fuck things up from time to time in our glorious future we will never, ever cost anyone even the tiniest fraction of this staggering sum.
So go ahead and laugh, or cry, both seem equally appropriate.
And let's party like it 1999!
